You may need to move cookies from one category to another in some cases. For example, when you have a marketing cookie but you want to change it to a functional one.
In this article, we'll show you how to change the existing cookie category.
Before you start
Here are some important things to keep in mind before you start:
To reach GDPR compliance, we recommend setting a category for all your cookies and making this a routine part of your website maintenance.
In Cookie Information, there are five default cookie categories: necessary, functional, statistical, marketing, and unclassified.
Change a cookie category
To change a cookie category, follow these steps:
1. Log in to Cookie Information.
2. Go to Consent solutions.
3. Find the consent solution you want to change a cookie category.
4. Navigate to Cookie management.
5. Use Search to find the cookie in the list.
Note:
You'll see custom cookies marked with a special icon in the list:
And you’ll see the scanner-detected cookies market with a special icon:
You can filter cookies by cookie type (custom or scanner-detected) or cookie category (necessary, functional, statistical, marketing, and unclassified).
6. Click the ⋯ three-dot icon next to the cookie.
7. Click Edit.
6. In Basic information, click Cookie category.
7. Choose the category from the dropdown list.
Note: You can’t set up the unclassified cookie category. This one is used only when our scanner finds a cookie that isn’t in our database.
9. Done.
