Mobile app consent is different from cookie consent on websites. Your users can consent to different purposes or statements. These are called consent items.
Similar to our cookie consent pop-up, the consent items could include different categories such as Necessary, Functional, Statistical and Marketing, or you could add custom ones such as the technologies that you use in your app.
Creating a mobile consent solution
Once mobile app consent has been enabled on your account you will be able to create your consent solution in the platform, similar to how you already do with consent solutions for domains.
You are able to:
Give your mobile consent solution a name
Specify whether the mobile consent solution is for Android or iOS (or both)
Give a short description of what your mobile application is about
Creating a consent item
After creating a consent solution, you will have 4 consent items and the privacy policy within the solution by default. You are able to edit and remove these to suit your needs.
You are also able to add custom consent items if you wish to.
Some clients choose to list the appropriate technologies they use in the description of the consent items - others make many custom consent items that the user can opt in and out of.
At the moment, there's no limit to the number of custom consent items your mobile consent solution can contain. However, at the moment, you are only able to have one of each category: Necessary, Functional, Marketing and Statistical.
To create a consent item, click on the orange button as shown below. If you would like to edit or delete any of the consent items, there is an edit button on the right.
If creating a new consent item, you will be presented with the following options:
Fill in the name of your consent item (e.g. Terms of Service, Use of Advertising, Newsletter, etc)
The type
Whether or not it is required by the user to consent to
Select the language or languages that you would like the consent item to be available in
You'll then be able to give a short and long description of each item - both of which can be displayed to the user if you wish.
Remember to click "Save and Publish" to save the consent item.
