How to enable shared consent
With shared consent enabled, our system is able to track the user's consent across multiple domains.
Navigate to the Consent Solution you want to enable the feature for.
Then go to the Language & Settings tab and press the button ENABLE SHARED CONSENT
It can take a few minutes to see the effect LIVE on the website.
Criteria for this setup
- The domains that need shared consent must be placed in the same Consent Solution.
Why would you need it?
Let us say your website takes the user on a flow going from one domain to another. This could be from your main domain to a subdomain. Normally this would mean your users will get prompted the consent pop-up more than once.
To provide a better user experience you can instead prompt the consent pop-up only once at the first entry point.
How does it work?
Normally our solution sets 1 single cookie in the user's browser after they've given their consent, but if shared consent is enabled, then we also place another cookie, named CookieInformationConfig.
This is a third-party cookie set by our scripts domain policy.app.cookieinformation.com making it possible for our script to track the consent across domains.
Is this legal?
Yes, it is legal because we only track by the user's ID provided by us on the initial consent.
This is not considered processing personal data.
