You may need to change the name of an existing cookie category to improve clarity, ensure legal compliance, maintain consistency or enhance user understanding based on feedback.
In this article, we’ll show you how to rename an existing cookie category.
Before you start
Here are some things to know before you start:
In Cookie Information, there are five default cookie categories: necessary, functional, statistical, marketing and unclassified.
To ensure GDPR compliance, we recommend setting a category for all your cookies and making this a routine part of your website maintenance.
Rename a cookie category
To rename some or all of these categories, follow these steps:
Go to Consent solutions.
Find the consent solution you want to set a cookie category for.
From Copy and translations go to Choose language.
Note: The language list depends on the languages you chose in Settings. You can’t disable any language once it is set up.
4. Navigate to Tracking categories.
5. Edit the category by typing the name in Category name.
6. (Optional) You can also edit a Category description.
7. Click Save and publish.
Note: Category names and descriptions are language-specific. It means that if you make any changes in one language, you need to manually update the names and descriptions for each language. These changes don’t automatically apply to other languages.
